What are the photography considerations when selling your products on Amazon?
For a long time, Amazon has been one of the UK’s most popular destinations for online shopping. There’s almost nothing that you can’t buy on there and the addition of Prime means that members can receive their items faster direct to their door. It’s a trend that shows no signs of slowing with the consumer love for online shopping growing month on month. It’s fair to say that it’s hard to beat the type of price competitiveness and fast delivery that Amazon have to offer. Therefore, developing a store to allow you to sell your products on Amazon is a popular addition to the portfolio of many online retailers but it’s hard to be successful in such a busy marketplace. The first thing that a potential customer will see of the products that your business has to offer is the photographs (Amazon allow you up to seven photographs per listing). This means that one of the keys to standing out from the crowd is the quality of your images – eye catching, super high-quality images will showcase your product’s features, increase your search ranking and give your listing the highest chance of being converted to a sale.
Despite being a place where so many different sellers can congregate, Amazon have a standard to maintain when it comes to the unique look of their product photography and the appearance of their website. This means that they have a strict set of requirements when it comes to the type of photographs that they will accept with listings. Format, file size and the background colour are all key to getting your listing accepted. We’re very familiar with the Amazon set of requirements, which you can read below in their entirety.

They recommend that photographs be “professionally lit and photographed or scanned, with realistic colour, and smooth edges.” That can certainly be very difficult to achieve at home even using purpose bought light boxes and the difference between home and professional photographs will nearly always be noticeable.
At our studio, we have invested thousands into the equipment that we use to capture images, not to mention the training that we have in making sure that your image meets the guidelines but still shows the features and quality of your product.
Our photographs will always have the best possible clarity, focus, resolution as well as natural colours and reflections with a pleasing and professional feel. We further enhance this with our editing process to create finished images that have razor sharp edges and are completely blemish free.
