Great Product Photography Increases Sales

Great Product Photography Increases Sales If a picture is worth 1000 words then imagine what this might mean when converted into currency? The photography on your website, social media and product sales pages can make all the difference to your bottom line. Increasingly time-poor consumers have been turning to online shopping as a way to ease the schedule squeeze.  A few clicks and your item arrives at your doorstep – saving all that time, expense and effort of visiting a bricks and mortar location.  That’s great news if you have an online business but it also means that you are in a competitive area and so you need to make sure your product images send the right message, and stand out from the crowd. Product photography becomes particularly important where a product is new to a customer – your product photography then moves from just being an image to be recognised and added to a basket to being your online salesperson. Customers want to see all the details and so the pictu...

Amazon Store Photography Standards

What are the photography considerations when selling your products on Amazon? For a long time, Amazon has been one of the UK’s most popular destinations for online shopping. There’s almost nothing that you can’t buy on there and the addition of Prime means that members can receive their items faster direct to their door.   It’s a trend that shows no signs of slowing with the consumer love for online shopping growing month on month.  It’s fair to say that it’s hard to beat the type of price competitiveness and fast delivery that Amazon have to offer. Therefore, developing a store to allow you to sell your products on Amazon is a popular addition to the portfolio of many online retailers but it’s hard to be successful in such a busy marketplace.  The first thing that a potential customer will see of the products that your business has to offer is the photographs (Amazon allow you up to seven photographs per listing). This means that one of the keys to standing out from...

Trash the Dress / Cherish the Dress

TRASH THE DRESS If you’ve been married then you probably know how much an important part of the preparations it was to choose your wedding dress.  There’s a lot of thought and indeed, a lot of money, that goes into that decision. You wear it, you look fabulous, you’re photographed and complemented and then it goes into a box at the back of the wardrobe or in your loft.  So here’s an opportunity to dig it out and rock it one last time! Of course, you don’t actually have to trash the dress – it depends on how you’re feeling.  We’ve had some ladies do it after a divorce and those dresses have definitely taken more of a hammering but quite a lot dry out and brush up with minimal damage.  The environment that you choose is totally up to you, get out in nature, get out into the paintball field or get out in the sea, we’re ready for anything that helps you to create exactly the images that you want. #Brighton #CherishtheDress #TrashtheDress https://www.visualchaos.co.uk/t...

Thermal Imaging of your Home – Can you detect heat loss?

Every year, as the weather turns colder and the heating systems are switched on across the UK, we all become conscious of the cost of keeping warm and cosy over the season. Putting on extra layers and tucking up under a blanket is one solution but it is also worth considering checking that your home’s insulation is in tip-top condition and you are not losing your heating investment to the skies. In previous times, an insulation inspection would have been purely visual with suppositions being made regarding areas that were inaccessible (which in terms of wall and roof insulation could make up a sizeable proportion). However, a thermal inspection is now available of your home using state of the art cameras to reveal the secret flaws and fault that might be costing you money. Why Insulation Fails When your home was built, especially if it is reasonably modern, the insulation would have been considered during its design and executed during its construction. However, it is possible that are...

Thermal IEC Complaint Solar Inspection in Sharpness

Thermal IEC Complaint Solar Inspection in Sharpness - Solar Panel Thermal Inspection Our client asked us to complete a solar PC Inspection of a commercial roof top installation in Sharpness. Along with the usual drone planning requirements and risk assessments to conduct a safe and legal flight, the location was close to Berkeley Nuclear Power Station which required additional flight permissions. The inspection took place during a very busy August when we were out conducting Photovoltaic Solar Panel inspections most days each week. IEC compliant inspections should only be performed by certified thermographers who understand the environmental conditions and thermographic calibration requirements to ensure the data collected is reliable. One of the principal environmental conditions necessary is a minimum of 600 w/m2 of sun irradiance to ensure the panels are fully under load. This is why inspections are usually completed in the summer months, from late spring to early autumn, when clear...

Invisible Mannequin Clothing Photography

INVISIBLE OR GHOST MANNEQUIN CLOTHING PHOTOGRAPHY Invisible mannequin, ghost mannequin or hollow man clothing photography is an extremely cost effective and eye catching way to photograph your clothing range. As you can see by some recent images that we created to advertise a company’s range of clothing, the clothing is photographed on a model or mannequin that is removed during the post production process to give the clothing a 3D look. It allows you to showcase your clothing both inside and out with the distraction of a real mannequin or model who may also hide some of the detail that you would like to reveal.  Most clothing requires a body shape inside of it to show it at it’s best – flat laid images are always likely to be less appealing to your potential buyers.  It is a particularly effective method if you are looking to show off interior detail such as linings and also allows customers to visualise themselves in the clothes rather than comparing themselves to a model w...

Shooting Bath Gel Product Photography

BATH GEL PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY FROM CRAWLEY PRODUCT STUDIO Shooting Fragrance Society Bath and Shower Gel - Crawley Commercial Photography Studio The beauty industry is booming with more people than ever focused on health and wellness. A little pampering has become a very popular form of self-care with more people than ever choosing to create their own home spa experience, especially after all that time in lock down when the hotel facilities were closed. Scents and fragrances are such an important part of any beauty product with many shower and bath gels opting to present their products in clear bottles. This gives a high-end look with the product clarity and colour becoming the key feature Why is professional product photography is important? However, in terms of presenting this in photographic form, it is technically challenging. Essentially you’re looking to sell an item without actually being able to demonstrate its true features. 20 Solar Inspections in a Month

UNUSUAL SEPTEMBER WEATHER PRESENTS SOLAR PANEL INSPECTION OPPORTUNITIES We don’t usually complete many solar inspections in the month of September as it’s the start of autumn (the prime season for solar panel inspections of course is the long sunny days of summer).  However, the unseasonable recent sunshine across the UK over the past few weeks have offered the opportunity for us to complete as many as 20 commercial solar panel inspections across the UK in four weeks, we managed to complete 5 in a 24-hour period alone! Sun Irradiation To complete an IEC compliant solar photovoltaic panel inspection, the requirement is for a minimum of 600 watts per square meter of solar irradiation.  This is the reason that solar panel inspections are typically conducted from the late spring and throughout the summer in the UK. This year, we certainly cannot complain about the amount of sunshine we have had, in fact, it has been a record-breaking summer with temperatures exceeding 40°c for the...

LinkedIn Headshots

Getting the Right Professional LinkedIn Headshot Your online business presence has been becoming increasingly more important over the last decade. Can you imagine trying to run your company without at least some online media space?  It’s almost unthinkable.  In fact, online marketing probably takes up a huge chunk of your time already. In today’s marketplace, your website is just part of your online marketing strategy. You’re also expected to operate on several social media channels as well and creating a consistent identity across all of these can be challenging. One of the simplest ways to make your business easily recognisable across all the channels that you operate with is to include a clear and professional headshot.  It has been proven that clients rarely purchase a product or service on their first exposure to it and so brand recognition can be a really important factor.  For many small businesses, you are the brand so it’s essential to make sure you ...

How do Solar Panels Work?

HOW DO SOLARE PV PANELS WORK? How Does the Sun Affect a Photovoltaic Solar Panel? The sun continually discharges little parcels of energy called photons, which arrive with us here on earth approximately 8.5 minutes after they have left their source.  Those little photons however can take 100,000 years to get from the sun’s core to the surface where they can start their journey to us – so we’re bathing in some very old light when we hit the beach on a hot summer’s day! Solar panels are designed to capture the power of this light and convert it into energy that we can use – natural, clean and green. How Does a Solar Photovoltaic Panel Work? Solar panels are made up of individual cells often constructed of silicon.  These cells, call Photo Voltaic (PV) cells become energised when they are in contact with photons and this energy is converted into a usable electrical current.  PV cells are wired together in collections on a board and then boards can be wired together into ar...

Selling Your Products Online

Product Photos To Reach A Worldwide Audience It can be frustrating to know you have an amazing product that people would love, but struggle to get sales. More and more, an in-person shopping experience is being eschewed for the convenience of purchasing online. Of course, this offers you a much bigger marketplace – worldwide in some cases – but then can also make it harder to get your product to stand out from the crowd. You probably already have your own website, but these can take time and expertise to grow and mature, so lots of businesspeople are looking to leverage the power of already established marketplaces – such as Amazon, Etsy and eBay – to boost their sales. These can deliver large audiences of potential customers who are visiting to make a purchase and offers a trusted platform for them to buy from. However, unlike your own website which naturally features only your products, these platforms mean that you may be competing for attention with other similar products.  A...

Common Causes of Solar System Under Performance

Not All Solar Panel Issues are Electrical Cell or String Faults Dirt on the Panels One very common cause of panels not functioning effectively is simply that they have become dirty over time, particularly in urban city locations, this can diminish performance by up to 10%. Regular panel cleaning can solve this problem. Check out our article on how to safely clean your solar panels here. However, if your panels have been on the receiving end of lichen growth or bird droppings, it is possible that hot spot damage has been caused that cleaning off the surface won’t fix. So, once you have cleaned your panels, you might still see that they are not operating at an optimum level. Shadowing / Shaded Panels It might be that your solar panels are being partially shaded.  For example, by trees that have grown since installation. Whilst this won’t damage your panels, it will be worth clearing any overgrown trees and large shrubs so your panels can once again enjoy a clear view of the sun. Degr...

Solar Farm Thermal Inspections

Solar Farm Thermal Inspections - Effecient Solar Farm Maintenance Practices Drone Media Imaging offer solar panel inspections using state of the art thermal cameras and qualified thermographer Level 2 pilots. This means that we are almost uniquely placed amongst drone operators to guarantee data collection under the correct conditions and meaningful reports that identify any faults or anomalies. Add to this the enhanced flight operating permissions we have been granted by the CAA, puts in in a very small exclusive group in the UK. An aerial inspection is an ideal method of assessing the condition and performance of all solar panel arrays when compared to manual ground-based inspection techniques.  The advantage of an airborne camera is particularly acute when panels are in areas that are difficult to access or cover large areas, such as solar farms. Using dedicated mapping software, the drone flies a pre-programmed route or mission which allows large areas to be inspected quickly a...

Solar Panel Cleaning

A Simple Solution to Increase Solar Panel Performance To ensure that your solar panels are operating at their optimal level, regular cleaning is required. When solar panels are located on high pitched rooftops such as with domestic housing, cleaning them yourself can be dangerous and so we would always recommend using a professional solar panel cleaning company. However, on many commercial flat roof installations with purpose built human access, and of course ground installations, regular cleaning on PV panels should be part of your estate management maintenance practices. In all cases, when working at height such as on a roof space health and safety is paramount. Being compliant with the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and certificated with ‘Working at Height Awareness Certification v3.0’ will be the minimum required for those conducting roof top solar panel cleaning, as well as full electrical competence and understanding of the electrical systems installed. - Turn off the solar sys...

Detecting Faults Using Drone Thermography

Solar Panel Fault Finding A drone carrying a thermal camera is the ideal tool to assess solar panel condition given that they are often placed in areas such as rooftops which means they are difficult to access. This non-destructive method of inspection minimises any health and safety risk alongside the chance of damaging roof or panels during the inspection process itself.  It is also a great deal quicker than using scaffolding or elevated platforms which makes it more cost effective. Professional commercial thermographerHowever, having a drone and a thermal camera is only part of what is required to carry out a meaningful solar panel inspection. It is also imperative that the drone operator is trained in thermography to capture the data under the right conditions and interpret it correctly. Providing uncalibrated thermal data and not understanding the environmental conditions or physics of thermal energy generation will result in wasted time, effort, and money. Solar panels need t...

Professional Real Estate Photography

Marketing Your Own Property? Don’t Forget the Professional Images.. Marketing your own property is becoming increasingly popular with people looking to avoid costly estate agent fees.  It’s not an entirely straightforward process but it is achievable and, given that so many property viewings take place online at least in the initial stages, it can make a great deal of sense. However, whether you are taking care of all aspects of selling your home yourself or employing the services of an estate agent, one of the key areas in terms of marketing your property is publishing the highest quality photographs. Most buyers will browse the internet and view your property online before deciding on whether to visit it in person, it’s vital to both stop them scrolling by capturing their attention and then to showcase the best features of your home and grounds to entice them to explore further. Estate agents are exactly that – they are estate agents and not professional photographers and it’s ...
